George Clooney and Amal Clooney donated $100,000 to three charities in Lebanon after the Beirut explosion that killed hundreds and injured thousands of individuals.

The Clooneys are working towards helping the people in Lebanon after the twin blasts on Tuesday that killed at least 135 people and injured at least 5,000 others. As part of the campaign, they made their own donation to three charities in the country.

"We’re both deeply concerned for the people of Beirut and the devastation they’ve faced in the last few days," George and Amal said in a statement to People.

"Three charitable organizations we've found are providing essential relief on the ground: the Lebanese Red Cross, Impact Lebanon, and Baytna Baytak. We will be donating $100,000 to these charities and hope that others will help in any way they can."

The 42-year-old human rights lawyer was born in Beirut. However, her family left the country during the Lebanese Civil War. She was only 2 years old when her family decided to settle down in London.

Earlier this year, George and Amal donated over $1 million to help those in need amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The celebrity couple gave $250,000 each to The Motion Picture and Television home, the SAG-AFTRA FUND and Los Angeles Mayors Fund.

They also gave an additional $300,000 to three other international charities, Lebanese Food Bank, Lombardo Italy Region and the NHS, Deadline reported.

The Clooneys are known for their charity works. They also set up the Clooney Foundation for Justice (CFJ), which advocates for justice through accountability. In 2016, it launched its TrialWatch program that helps individuals unfairly targeted by oppressive governments through the courts.

Meanwhile, Mia Khalifa was also born in Beirut, but she has been banned from entering the country for years for doing porn. However, the ex-porn star has been doing her best to help the people affected by the incident in her home country.

Khalifa is very active on social media and has been sharing links for donation and details where people could get help. In the past years, Khalifa made several posts about Lebanon and she always showed her love for the country even though it doesn’t love her back, according to her.
