George Foreman has named one of his past opponents as the most skillful heavyweight of all time.

Then and now, the heavyweight division is stacked with talented boxers and everyone is entitled to hail who they think is the greatest to ever step inside the ring.

In most cases, the names Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis and Rocky Marciano are being thrown in the conversation given the aforementioned boxers’ legacy spanned until the modern era.

However, not for “Big George.”

Replying to a fan’s query, Foreman appointed his former opponent Evander Holyfield as the “the most skillful” heavyweight to ever do it.

“[Evander] Holyfield was about the most skillful Heavyweight boxer I ever saw,” Foreman wrote.

Foreman’s response didn’t really surprise his fans as Holyfield is indeed revered as one of the greatest boxers of all time.

However, the 72-year-old left some of them kind of wondering because “The Real Deal” was a former champ. In fact, he was the only four-time world heavyweight champion in history.

Unlike other boxing legends, Foreman is seemingly fond of raving about his past rivals.

In his Ring TV’s “Best I Faced” exclusive interview, the Hall of Famer heaped praise on a wide array of his best contemporaries and former opponents.

But ultimately, Foreman admitted that it was the late and legendary Ali who ticked most of the boxes.

“I hit Ali with a huge body shot and normally a punch like that would make someone fire back and leave themselves open,” Foreman assessed. “Ali didn’t care about the pain and covered up because he knew he couldn’t punch with me. After three or four rounds he took control and my chance was gone.”

“I remember Angelo Dundee shouting ‘Muhammad, don’t play with that sucker,'” he continued. “I was tired in the fight but right until the end, I thought I was going to knock him out because I had always found that big punch. I kept saying to myself, ‘ I’ll get him in a minute. ’ I was exhausted, could barely breathe but all I needed was one shot. There were occasions when I was almost throwing myself over the ropes trying to nail Ali.”

“He was so gifted technically and his jab was the best I ever faced in the ring. Ali could jab going backwards or to the sides and that shot would always find you. He would catch me with the jab as I was coming forward and it was so difficult to counter that punch. He would spin that jab over and over.”
