Gionee Elife E8 With 2 GHz CPU And 23.7 MP Camera Officially Announced Alongside 6,020 mAh Battery Powered Marathon M5
Through a special launch event, Gionee has unveiled two new smartphones, namely, the Marathon M5 and the Elife E8 flagship handset. The latter is a phablet device packed with high-end specs.

According to a PR Newswire press release, the Gionee Elife E8 features a 6-inch (152.4-millimeter) AMOLED screen that supports Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. It supports a pixel density of 490 ppi. The device is powered by Helio X10 chipset that features a quad-core processor that can deliver a clocking speed of 2 GHz. It is supported by 3 GB of RAM.
The internal storage available on the device is 64 GB, and it also comes with support for microSD storage. The USP of the device is the impressive 23.7-megapixel camera.
The press release says that the camera software of Elife E8 can allow users to shoot photos of up to 100 megapixels. Also, the camera app takes only 0.8 seconds to get started. The secondary, 8-megapixel camera on the device also supports autofocus.
The release further boasts its camera prowess by mentioning that it is the first smartphone running on Android OS to come with lossless zoom feature. It also comes with features like superfast phase detection autofocus, optical image stabilization, 4K video shooting and more.
The device is powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop that is overlaid with Amigo 3.1 UI. The device supports LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi and dual SIM connectivity options. According to GSM Arena, the handset will be available with a price tag of $645 from July 15.
Gionee Marathon M5
As for the Marathon M5, the device has a thickness of 8.5 millimeters (about one-third inch). The dual SIM handset is fitted with a 5.5-inch (139.7 millimeter) AMOLED HD screen of 720 x 1280 pixels.
The Marathon M5 is a midrange device that is powered by a quad-core processor of 1.3 GHz along with 2 GB of RAM. The internal storage of the device is 16 GB, and on its external storage slot, it supports up to 64 GB of microSD.
It features 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras. It comes with connectivity features such as 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The most salient feature of the Marathon M5 is its packed a pair of batteries, each with a capacity of 3,010 mAh. Hence, it delivers a massive battery backup of 6,020 mAh. The device can quickly charge both the batteries simultaneously. Last, it carries a price tag of $370.
