‘Girl Meets World’ Season 2 Spoilers: Maya’s Dad To Cause Trouble For Shawn And Katy

Look away, “Girl Meets World” fans! It looks like there is trouble in paradise for Shawn (Rider Strong) and Katy (Cheryl Texiera). Shawn’s ex-girlfriend, Angela (Trina McGee) already blew into town during “Girl Meets Hurricane,” and now it looks like Katy will get a blast from the past when her ex-husband, Kermit, shows up.

According to E! Online, an upcoming episode will feature a “major” Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) storyline when the tween’s dad arrives. Despite the “frog” name, Kermit is said to be “roguish and good looking.” And while Maya could potentially be excited to see her dear old dad, it sounds like Kermit’s in town just to cause problems. E! teases that the new character is “sure to stir up trouble for Shawn’s new relationship with Maya’s mom when he comes back into the picture.”

For fans unfamiliar with Katy and Kermit’s relationship, Kermit left her when Maya was very young. He moved on and started another family with our kids. Maya initially blamed her mom for her dad leaving, but learned the truth that her dad left them from Shawn.

Katy only recently started seeing Shawn, asking him out after he received a bit of encouragement from Angela. Shawn’s already close with Maya, and actress Sabrina Carpenter even dished that she’d be happy to have him as a stepfather.

“Who wouldn’t?” she told International Business Times on the 2015 ATX Television Festival red carpet. “Anyone who watched ‘Boy Meets World” would want Shawn as their step dad … or best friend.”

Kermit is expected to appear in an episode called “Girl Meets Forgiveness.” An air date has not been announced.
