Team Cockroach continues to pretend in front of the whole neighborhood in next week’s episode “The Good Place.”

According to the synopsis for Season 2, episode 5 of the NBC comedy, Tahani (Jameela Jamil) throws a dinner party to impress. But when things don’t go as expected, Eleanor (Kristen Bell) and Jason (Manny Jacinto) both lend a hand.

In Season 2, episode 4, Tahani, Eleanor, Jason and Chidi (William Jackson Harper) all agreed to help Michael (Ted Danson) cover his screw-ups from his boss Shawn (Marc Evan Jackson) by going behind Vicky’s (Tiya Sircar) back. Apparently, Tahani’s dinner party is just part of Team Cockroach’s attempt to convince Vicky that Michael has rebooted the humans. But will the unforeseen glitch at the soirée lead Vicky to find out about the unlikely alliance between Michael and the humans?

“She has an extraordinarily high opinion of herself and her ability to succeed where Michael has failed, [but] it’s pretty clear, pretty quickly that that’s a misguided belief,” series creator Michael Schur told Entertainment Tonight of the neighborhood’s current de factor leader, Vicky. “But that’s fine because there’s a huge advantage for Michael and the four humans in having a completely blind-to-her-own-weaknesses person running the neighborhood. The less she pays attention to details, the better off they’ll be because they’re sneaking around behind her back. They have to make sure she stays happy and that she thinks she’s doing a good job, in order for them to do the thing they want to do, which is meet in secret and continue to take Chidi’s ‘good person’ lessons.”

One of the reasons the humans agreed to team up with Michael last episode was because he promised that that he would help the quartet enter the real Good Place. While Schur’s lips are sealed on when the viewers will actually see the real Good Place, the Emmy winner told Entertainment Tonight that more details about the real Good Place will be revealed in upcoming episodes.

“You’ll get it before the end of the year,” Schur said. “You’ll get a lot more information about the Good Place, about Michael’s promise, about how you can get there — he mentions a method of transportation. You’re going see and learn about all of the different stuff that he talks about in an episode.”

“The Good Place” Season 2, episode 5, titled “Existential Crisis,” airs on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 8:30 p.m. on NBC.
