Google Inc. is organizing a media event in Los Angeles on Wednesday; something that will be completely dedicated to music. Google is launching a program to enable the purchase and download of music, along with some social networking features.

According to some reports, Google has already signed a deal with Universal Music Group (UMG), to feature some of its albums in the service. Other music groups like Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group are yet to finalize any deal with Google.

EMI Music's participation at the media event is also uncertain.

With Google's entry, the online music download market will see a new competitor. There have been only two big names in play until now - iTunes and the Amazon MP3 Store.

The services will be offered to Android users with a free Song of the Day.

Meanwhile, screen-shots of the to-be-launched Google music shop have appeared on the Internet. Technodroidve has posted many leaked screen shots, including the special Google doodle for the service.
