KEY POINTS

  • The recalled accessories are included in four models of Graco's Pack 'n Play playards
  • Only the sleepers have been recalled, not the rest of the products
  • Affected customers should contact the company for a refund

Graco is recalling about 51,000 units of inclined sleeper accessories included in four models of its Pack 'n Play playards due to suffocation risk.

In an announcement posted on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission's (CPSC) website Wednesday, the company said infant fatalities related to inclined sleep products were reported from some other manufacturers after "infants rolled from their back to their stomach or side while unrestrained, or under other circumstances."

No infant fatalities or injuries related to the company's infant sleeper products have been reported. It advised customers to immediately stop using the infant sleeper accessory "out of an abundance of caution" and in accordance with new safety regulation.

How to get a refund

Affected customers can contact the company for a refund.

"Please contact Graco to receive a recall kit to render the accessory unusable and return proof for a refund," Graco said.

First, customers should determine whether the product they are using is affected by the recall. The recalled products are:

  • "Graco Pack 'n Play Day2Dream Playard & Bedside Sleeper" sold between November 2017 and September 2020 – Model Numbers 2034085, 2048753 and 2053215
  • "Graco Pack 'n Play Nuzzle Nest Playard" sold between May 2015 and December 2018 – Model Numbers 1947177 and 1896392
  • "Graco Pack 'n Play Everest Playard" sold between September 2015 and December 2018 – Model Numbers 1946902 and 1946903
  • "Graco Pack 'n Play Rock 'n Grow Playard" sold between December 2019 to April 2020 – Model Number 2105055

The model number can be located on the label on one of the tubes on the underside of the playard, the company said. The inclined sleeper accessory is the only part that has been recalled.

"Consumers can continue to use the playard, changing station and bassinet portions of the products without the inclined sleeper accessory according to the owner's manual," Graco said in its recall notice.

Those who have purchased the recalled products should complete a web form to receive the Recall Kit and should take note of the tracking information. The company will then send the customers a prepaid shipping label, a return mailing envelope and instructions on how to return "a portion of the cover of the inclined sleeper accessory."

"Do not cut out a portion of your cover until you receive your recall kit," Graco said.

Those with questions about the recall can contact Graco at 1-800-345-4109 or via email at gracoconsumercare@newellco.com.

Earlier this year, Graco and three other companies recalled some infant sleeper products, also citing suffocation risks.
