“Grey’s Anatomy” alum Eric Dane recently made his first public appearance since news broke that he was suffering from depression.

According to E! News, the actor attended the 16th annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball in Brentwood, California over the weekend. He was joined by his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, and the two posed for several photos. Also present were Dane and Gayheart’s children, Billie,7, and Georgia, 5.

Gayheart, who is one of the co-founders of the foundation, posted a photo of the four of them standing in front of a huge Chrysalis Butterfly Ball backdrop. Dane and Gayheart have attended the event, which raises funds to help homeless people, since 2004.

Dane’s wife also spoke with E! News to share their plans for the summer. “Daddy’s working in town, so we’re going to be hanging close, we’ll be in Malibu a lot, a lot of local trips visiting the family,” she said.

By the looks of it, Dane is ready to return to the set of TNT’s “The Last Ship” Season 5 and film his remaining scenes.

In April, Dane’s rep told Variety that the actor will be going on a short break from filming. “Eric asked for a break to deal with personal issues. He suffers from depression and has asked for a few weeks of downtime and the producers kindly granted that request. He looks forward to returning,” the statement read.

The cast of “The Last Ship” just returned to set two weeks before news of Dane’s depression battle surfaced online. The series is also set to premiere its fourth season sometime in August.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time that Dane made headlines due to his personal struggles. In 2011, the actor sought professional help and treatment for his substance abuse issues. He completed a 30-day stint in rehab after developing a dependency on his pain medications.

While speaking with People three years later, Dane acknowledged the fact that everyone makes mistakes in their lifetime. But his biggest regret was putting his wife in the middle of all the controversies he was involved in. “I honestly think I’m where I’m supposed to be at this moment in time. And I’m really happy,” he concluded.
