Georges St-Pierre is widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) history and was the fourth fighter in Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) history to win two division titles. He was in Las Vegas recently and during an interview he was asked to name the best pound-for-pound fighters in UFC at the moment.

Khabib Nurmagomedov was top of the now retired fighter’s list with the Russian recently having defeated Dustin Poirier to unify the UFC lightweight title. He even called out St-Pierre for a title fight as his next opponent.

The make fighters on GSP’s list included Jon Jones, who is the current two-time light heavyweight champion and Henry Cejudo, who is a two-division champion in the UFC’s bantamweight and flyweight divisions. There was no mention of former two-division champion Conor McGregor, who is probably the most recognized face among male fighters in the UFC.

The Irishman, who is currently recovering from a hand injury, is keen to make a comeback later in the year and has called out a number of fighters. McGregor wants a rematch with Nurmagomedov but the Russian made it clear recently that he has no intention of fighting someone who always loses.

St-Pierre also spoke about the women’s division which was put on the map by Ronda Rousey, who was even inducted into the Hall of Fame after she made the switch to the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). However, the former middleweight and welterweight champion ignored Rousey and named Amanda Nunes as the best female fighter of all time.

Nunes is currently on a nine-fight winning streak and is also the reigning women’s bantamweight and featherweight champion. The Brazilian mixed martial artist has been the bantamweight champion since 2016 when she beat Meisha Tate and she added the featherweight title in 2018 when she beat Cris Cyborg in under a minute.

“Khabib Nurmagomedov is there for sure. There’s Jon Jones as well. There’s Henry Cejudo, who I think is very hard to beat. If you look at what he’s accomplished, it’s a lot. So Jon Jones, Henry Cejudo, and Khabib. And let’s not forget about Amanda Nunes. She’s the best female fighter of all time,” St-Pierre said during an interview with Helen Yee.

St-Pierre also spoke about Nurmagomedov’s wish for him to come out of retirement and fight him for the lightweight title. He believes Tony Ferguson should be the fighter given the title shot against the Dagestani grappler.

“100% Tony Ferguson,” St-Pierre said. “And it’s going to be a good fight. I’m a big fan. I don’t know [who’ll win]. It all depends who’s going to fight their fight. Tony likes a dirty fight with elbows and knees, that’s his style. Khabib likes to control guys when he’s on the floor with his top game. It all depends how it goes down, styles make fights and it’s hard to predict.”
