During the recently held PS5 digital event, Sony announced that Rockstar Games’ “GTA 5” would be released on its next generation gaming console. Apparently, the hit instaLlment to the popular “Grand Theft Auto” series is also coming to Microsoft’s Xbox Series X. A fan theory recently claimed that the “GTA 5” version releasing on Xbox Series X and PS5 would arrive with Liberty City DLC.

The new set of details about the next generation gaming console version of “GTA 5” came from a fan’s theory shared on Reddit. According to the user name Mr.Phillips, the enhanced and expanded version of “GTA 5” would feature brand new content. The fan claimed that this new content would be in the form of single-player downloadable content.

Additionally, the Reddit user noted that the single-player DLC of “GTA 5 for PS5 and Xbox Series X would take the players back to the infamous Liberty City. For the uninitiated, Liberty City is the series’ version of the real-life New York City. It is also the main location of “GTA IV.”

A strange "GTA 6" leak could be hinting of a Summer 2020 grand reveal as opposed to earlier assumption that it is the game's release window. steamXO

According to the fan, Take Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games sent a cease and desist order to all the sites distributing and running “GTA 5” modding tool called OpenIV. The tipster added that the major project involves bringing “GTA IV” to “GTA 5.” The fans also noted that the trailer revealed at the PS5 digital event utilized a reused video of the title running on the PlayStation 4.

The Reddit user raised that aside from the fact that it is weird to launch a title at a major PS5 event using a video of a game running on the PS4. He added that Rockstar Games could have launched a video of the “GTA 5” running on Sony’s next generation gaming console. The fan thinks that what Rockstar games did at the PS5 event makes no sense.

It only explains the possibility that the gaming studio has reworked the Liberty City and plans to introduce it to the next generation gaming console version of the game. This theory also aligns with an earlier leaked image revealing the reworked photo of the infamous Liberty City. Previous rumors claimed that the gaming studio was working on Liberty City DLC, but it was later scrapped because it wanted to focus on “GTA Online.”

It is worth mentioning that while the fan theory about “GTA 5” on PS5 and Xbox Series X sounds exciting, it is just a theory and not an official confirmation from the game developer.
