Despite the U.S. Congress' failure to pass any stricter gun laws after the Sandy Hook massacre, states like Colorado, Connecticut and New York have toughened up their firearms legislation. But several other states have moved in the opposite direction and loosened their firearms legislation in order to preserve Second Amendment rights.

Here’s a look at some of the looser gun laws that have passed following the shooting deaths of 26 people at the Newtown, Conn., school last December.
