  • Adrian has termed Thiago Alcantara as "world-class"
  • Adrian and Alcantara have faced each other earlier in international friendlies
  • Alcantara recently joined Liverpool for $35 million

Liverpool FC’s second-choice goalkeeper Adrian has welcomed the club’s summer signing, Thiago Alcantara, by hailing him a "winner" before adding the Spaniard has joined the Anfield side to win more titles.

Liverpool recently signed Alcantara from Bayern Munich for $35 million and the player immediately made an impact during his debut that came in the Premier League away game against Chelsea. Having won nearly everything in Spain and Germany during his respective stints at FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich, Alcantara is being considered as the most accomplished arrival in the Premier League.

Liverpool thrashed Lincoln City 7-2 in their League Cup outing, where The Reds had Adrain between the sticks instead of regular starter Alisson Becker.

In an interview with Liverpool’s official website, when Adrian was asked if one must expect Alcantara to deliver more in the coming days, the former West Ham United shot-stopper replied, "For sure. He's a winner. You see his career, he won a lot of titles because obviously, he was in a top team like Barcelona and Bayern Munich. He likes to win, he came here to win, to try to win all the titles we are facing this season. It's a great signing for us and I think he's going to help us a lot."

Adrian plays international soccer for Andalusia, which is a national football team that is not affiliated with FIFA or UEFA because it is represented internationally by the Spain national football team. The Andalusia national team only plays friendly matches. Adrian has faced Alcantara in the past when Spain and Andalusia faced off in international friendlies.

"Thiago is a world-class player. I knew him before when we went to the national team and because we have a few friends between us. He's a top player, he has quality, he has [a] great pass, great shot, vision of the game – a different one. So he gives us a lot of help. This season is going to be tough and he gives us that quality that he has. Obviously, part of this is a great player, fits really well into the dressing room, speaks very good English, so no problem at all. I think he's going to enjoy this season, the first season with us," added Adrian, who has made 19 appearances for Liverpool’s first-team, in the same interview.
