From playing Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s “The Witcher,” Henry Cavill will be donning the red cape again. The actor is reportedly in talks to play "The Man of Steel" once more for Warner Bros. and the DCEU.

According to Gamerant, it is confirmed that the movie won’t be another “Man of Steel,” at least. There are no more standalone films detailing the story of Superman. It is more of Henry Cavill reprising his role as the “Man of Steel” in another movie flick featuring one or a group of heroes from the DCEU, similar to how it happened in the Justice League.

For those hoping that he would appear in “Wonder Woman 1984” or “Suicide Squad,” those stints won’t happen since both movies have already finished filming. There are no plans to include him in “The Batman” either. The only other films that Cavill could appear in are sequels to “Shazam” and “Aquaman.”

While fans may be disappointed that there are no more standalone films in Superman’s future, his return to the DCEU is much needed to achieve Zack Snyder’s vision. According to Forbes, Cavill’s return as Superman may be the missing piece to finally get “The Snyder Cut” out and into HBO Max in 2021.

The controversial “Snyder Cut” will reportedly translate the director’s original vision for the Justice League. It might also be the reason why Henry Cavill is returning as Superman and why this is important news.

For now, it seems that an appearance in “Shazam 2” makes more sense – after all, he did appear in the end-credits scene. Even Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had said that there is possibly a showdown between Black Adam and Superman. Whatever the case, Cavill’s return to the DC Universe just might be what the DCEU is waiting for to compete with Marvel’s MCU.
