  • The “Hercules” live-action remake has been confirmed
  • Disney hired talented scribe Dave Callahaman to pen the script
  • There are rumors that the live-action remake's cast might include Ariana Grande, Ryan Gosling and Idris Elba

The “Hercules” live-action remake is already in the works and the cast may include Ariana Grande, Ryan Gosling and Idris Elba.

Disney is doing another live-action remake after the success of “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Lion King,” and “Dumbo.” While fans are waiting for the release of “Mulan,” it has been confirmed that a “Hercules” live-action remake is already in development.

The studio hired Dave Callaham to work on the script for the upcoming film, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Callaham also penned the script for “The Expandables” and Marvel’s upcoming “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.”

Callaham is one of the most in-demand scribes today. He penned the upcoming film “Wonder Woman 1984” that stars Gal Gadot and Chris Pine. He is also writing Tom Holland’s “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2.” His other credits include “Zombieland: Double Tap” and “Godzilla.”

Meanwhile, Joe and Anthony Russo are set to produce the live-action remake via their AGBO banner. The popular Russo brothers are behind the massive hit superhero films “Avengers: Endgame” and “Avengers: Infinity War.”

Meanwhile, there are rumors that Ariana Grande might play the role of Megara after she sang “I Won’t Say I’m In Love” during “The Disney Family Singalong.” Aside from the “Bang Bang” hitmaker, there are also speculations that Ryan Gosling and Idris Elba could be onboard. However, fans should still take the reports with a grain of salt because according to THR, the project is still far from the casting stage.

The animated film was a musical fantasy about the Greek legend demigod who fought to reclaim his heroic status. It remains unknown if the “Hercules” live-action remake will keep the musical elements because Disney has different approaches when it comes to doing remakes.

For instance, “The Lion King” was very close to the animated movie released in 1994. However, its upcoming movie “Mulan” is a loose interpretation of the 1998 original.

Disney’s “Mulan” has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, but it was already assigned a new release date. The anticipated movie is set to premiere on July 24. Meanwhile, Scarlett Johansson’s superhero flick “Black Widow” has been pushed back to Nov. 6.
