Popeyes is serving up a new menu addition that strays away from its typical chicken offerings in what is the latest catch from the fast-food chain.

The chicken restaurant is now featuring a Cajun Flounder Sandwich that will be available on Thursday in 3,300 restaurants and for delivery nationwide.

To allow everyone to try the fish sandwich on the cheap, customers can get one for only 15 cents through the Popeyes app on Thursday.

The fish sandwich regularly sells for $4.49 and features only four ingredients. It is made with a fried filet served on a buttery toasted brioche bun, barrel-cured pickles (the same ones used on Popeyes’ Chicken Sandwiches), and Popeyes tartar sauce.

Popeyes said the flounder filet hails from the Pacific Ocean, where it is then seasoned in a blend of the Louisiana brand’s Cajun seasoning and dusted with a crispy southern coating. It is then fried until it is golden brown to achieve a light and flakey crust.

According to the restaurant, the Cajun Flounder Sandwich has a taste that is similar to what would be found at a local dockside fish shack.

Popeyes is so confident that consumers will love the Cajun Flounder Sandwich, it is offering Sandwich Insurance. Any customer that doesn’t like the sandwich can replace it with a Popeyes Chicken Sandwich for free on launch day, the company said.

“After seeing the response to our Chicken Sandwich in 2019, we are excited to deliver yet another delicious sandwich to our fans that is sure to reset industry standards,” Sami Siddiqui, president, Americas at Popeyes, said in a statement.

“At Popeyes, we don’t take shortcuts on quality and strive to ensure our ingredients are the best of the best. That’s why we’re proud to be serving up the most authentic, Cajun Flounder Sandwich in QSR [quick service restaurant].”

The Cajun Flounder Sandwich is not the only menu addition that Popeyes has made recently. In December, it added the New Orleans dessert favorite, Chocolate Beignets, to its menu – a deep-fried pastry stuffed with melted Hershey’s chocolate and covered in powdered sugar.

Popeyes also offered a Cajun-style turkey for Thanksgiving and a Churkey meal for the holidays.
