Two separate traffic accidents closed both Highway 85 and Highway 66 in Denver, Colorado, on Wednesday.

After Highway 85 was blocked when a train derailed upon colliding with a tractor trailer south of Platteville, Wisconsin, traffic was diverted to Highway 66 and County Road 30, however a serious accident that happened simultaneously near Highway 66 and CR-17 closed Highway 66 as well.

The Colorado State Patrol reported two unknown casualties when a 2008 Jeep hit a 2014 Ford pickup truck around 6:13 a.m. near Highway 66 and Weld Country Road 17.

Highway 66 was closed in both directions near Mead, The Denver Post reported.

Meanwhile, no injuries were reported in the Highway 85 accident, according to KDVR7, however, Platteville officials warned of oil and debris on the ground which prompts a hazardous materials situation.

At least 15 cars were derailed from the tracks after a train hit a 2014 Kenworth tractor trailer that between County Road 30 and Highway 85.

Fort Lupton Fire Protection Department tweeted that the northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 85 were blocked.

It is still unknown until when both road closures would remain in effect.
