Despite both starring in “Avengers: Endgame,” Chris Evans apparently spoiled the ending of the movie for Anthony Mackie. Evans made an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Monday night, where he confessed that he accidentally let it slip a very important scene Mackie wasn’t aware of. (Spoilers ahead, if you haven’t seen “Avengers: Endgame.”)

While they were shooting the recent "Avengers" movie in Atlanta, Evans decided to have some people over to watch the football game and Mackie was the first to show up.

In the late-night interview, as reported by E! Online, Evans told the story of how he very casually brought up one very iconic scene from the movie, the final moments of the film where Evans, as an aged Captain America, passes his symbolic shield to Mackie’s character Falcon, essentially crowning him the new Captain America.

“Hey man, isn't that scene fantastic?'" Evans said, followed by a curious Mackie asking “What scene?” As Evans explained to him which scene it was, the one where he passes him the shield, it dawned on him why Mackie didn’t know what he’s talking about.

“Oh no, oh no," Evans panicked. However, he decided to show Mackie the scene. He handed him the script and the two had a moment. "I got to watch him read the scene for the first time," Evans told host Jimmy Fallon, before suggesting that maybe he “robbed” that moment from Kevin Feige.

Evans is glad it happened, though, as he explained: "He was so, so happy and, you know, so deserving. It was a nice way to, kind of have, just between us, the transition of characters."

Mackie is expected to reappear as Falcon in the upcoming Disney+ streaming show “Falcon and Winter Soldier” where he will still be holding the iconic Captain America shield.
