George and Amal Clooney are going to be parents to twins, and no one is happier for them than “The Great Wall” star Matt Damon. He was so happy that he even shed tears of joy for the couple!

It was PEOPLE that first broke the news that the Clooneys are expecting. Amal reportedly “has let everyone in both families know quietly,” the source said. “They’re all very happy.

When Entertainment Tonight asked Damon how he feels about this development, he said, “I was working with him last fall and he pulled me aside on set and I mean, I almost started crying. I was so happy for him. And I was like, ‘How far along is she?’ And he goes, ‘Eight weeks.’”

Damon, who is already a father of four, immediately panicked because he did not want Clooney breaking the “12-week rule.” He told Clooney, “Are you out of your mind?! Don’t tell anybody else! Don’t tell anybody else! Don’t you know the 12-week rule?”

“The way to not let a secret go out is you don't tell anybody,” the actor continued. “It's not rocket science and we just know that's their incredibly wonderful news and it's theirs to share with the world.”

Damon added that Clooney really chose the best woman to marry because he could not find any fault in Amal. “So yeah, I’m thrilled for him. She’s amazing. He hit the jackpot. Just on every level. She is a remarkable woman. They’re gonna be great. They’re gonna be awesome parents. Those kids are lucky,” he said.

The Clooneys tied the knot back in September 2014 in Venice, Italy in front of their family and friends, including Damon, Cindy Crawford, Bono and Emily Blunt, among many others, according to Entertainment Weekly.
