Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle have always been pitted against each other. This week, the two Duchesses were once again compared by royal fans.

On Sunday, Markle celebrated her 38th birthday and members of the royal family posted their sweet greetings for the Duchess of Sussex via their respective social media accounts.

Prince William and Middleton were one of the first people to greet Prince Harry’s wife via Kensington Palace’s official account. “Wishing a very happy birthday to The Duchess of Sussex today!” the post read and it was accompanied by a balloon emoji.

Eagle-eyed royal fans praised the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for their birthday greeting by saying that it appeared to be a very personal post. Another royal fan said that Prince William and Middleton are her favorite royals because they are classy.

“Well, this is how our royals act… not just posting comments. Love the Cambridges,” another fan commented.

Last month, Prince Harry and Markle didn’t garner the same reaction from royal fans after they greeted Prince George. At that time, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex didn’t share a photo of the adorable 6-year-old on their account. Rather, they simply commented on one of Prince George’s photos on his parents’ Instagram.

At that time, Prince Harry and Markle were accused of disrespectful to Prince George, who is technically higher than Prince Harry in the line of succession. Prince George is currently third in line to the throne, and he will also become a King one day. Prince Harry, on the other hand, is currently sixth in line to the throne.

Meanwhile, royal commentator Omid Scobie recently told BuzzFeed News that the “Suits” alum has been receiving tons of criticisms over things that the other royals are being praised for. Online birthday greetings are a case in point.

Most recently, Prince Harry’s wife was also criticized for guest-editing the September issue of British Vogue. Years ago, Middleton guest-edited for one publication several years ago, but she was praised for her efforts to promote mental health at that time.
