Kate Middleton and Prince William’s decade-long courtship wasn’t smooth sailing.

According to a 2007 report from Daily Mail, Prince William opened up to his close pal and revealed that although he was very fond of Middleton, he never thought that she was “the one” for him. At the time, he felt that he was still so young to settle down and wanted to grow his career as an Army officer.

The source added that Prince William said “all the fun has gone” and “I don’t want to be nailed down.”

“He is only 24 and simply wasn’t ready to settle down,” the source told the publication.

“He has always had a roving eye, far more so than Harry, who is meant to be the family playboy. That’s something Kate has always known and accepted – it was part of the deal, if you like.”

Prior to Prince William and Middleton’s split, the duke was seen dancing with 19-year-old Lisa Agar in a nightclub in Bournemouth. The insider described the incident “harmless” but the confrontation with Middleton when the photographs made headlines in several tabloids triggered their split.

A close pal of Prince William revealed how Middleton fought hard for their relationship. So, their split was very hard for the duchess.

Middleton was once dubbed “Waity Katie” because it took so long for Prince William to propose to her. She also did everything she could to make Prince William stay. So, she made some moves to avenge.

“Just the other week, she said she intended to be photographed at as many places as she could without William to punish him for all those pictures that appeared of him clubbing with other girls,” the source said.

“But William’s heart just wasn’t in it any more. As she was planning the wedding, he was working out how to extricate himself.”

Middleton’s friends were relieved when they split because she didn’t have time to see them when she was still with Prince William. Just like Meghan Markle, Middleton reportedly stopped seeing her friends while dating the royal prince.

However, not long after their split, Prince William and Middleton realized they couldn’t live without each other, so they got back together. In 2010, the couple announced their engagement. In 2011, they exchanged “I do’s” and the pair is now parents to three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
