Although Prince Charles has been present throughout his sons Prince William and Prince Harry’s lives, it appears the brothers prefer to model their parenting style after their mother, Princess Diana.

Kate Middleton and William are already parents to three kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Meanwhile, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their first child together in spring 2019.

While the couples could have taken the traditional route of allowing a team of nannies to raise their children, Princess Diana is reportedly the reason why they decided to ditch tradition and become hands-on parents.

Royal author Duncan Larcombe told “Sunday Night” Diana did her best to make sure William and Harry enjoyed their childhood. As a result, the men will strive to raise their own children similar to how Diana raised them.

“As parents, William and Harry will always be influenced by their mother. Her desire to try and give them a taste of real life, normality, runs through the veins of William and Harry,” he said

Growing up, Prince William and Prince Harry spent a majority of their time with Diana, who was a hands-on mother. Although Prince Charles was around, he wasn’t as involved in his sons’ upbringing as Princess Diana was.

“While Charles adores his sons, there wasn’t the same expectation on fathers of his generation to do the day-to-day things so everyone assumed he would carry on as normal with his duties when his children were young, which he did,” ABC News royal contributor Victoria Murphy previously revealed.

Murphy noted that Prince William once shared his concerns about not dedicating enough time to his children. “In one interview William defended criticism of his official workload by saying that if he can’t give his time to his children he worries about their future.”

When Meghan and Prince Harry’s baby arrives, the couple will not immediately announce the child’s birth. Instead, they will take some private time to bond as a family before issuing an official statement.
