Disney cast members and employees celebrated International Yoga Day on Tuesday with yoga at its various parks worldwide.

Yoga sessions from small to very large groups occurred at Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani Resort in Hawaii, Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disney, and Disney’s Vero Beach. Shanghai Disney and Hong Kong Disney celebrated with a virtual yoga session. Around 2000 people showed up to the sunrise yoga at Walt Disney World.

“From improving heart health and reducing stress to increasing your energy – yoga has benefits for everyone, and those benefits are aligned with The Walt Disney Company’s continued focus on encouraging mental, emotional, and physical wellness for its employees and cast,” Disney Parks said in a statement.

The event was a “cast-only” event but any employee was invited to attend.

International Yoga day began on June 21, 2015 after its inception in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014.

The United Nations dedicated this year’s theme to “Yoga for Humanity” which is intended to remind us “how yoga is truly universal.”

“The International Day of Yoga celebrates the restorative healing and inner peace provided by this ancient practice,” The United Nations said on its website.

“With roots in India, yoga is now practiced worldwide, giving people of all faiths and walks of life the tools and practices they need to enhance and balance their physical, spiritual and mental wellbeing,” it added.
