Apple has updated the Maps app on iOS 13 and added a slew of new features that will prove useful to people who use it during their daily commutes and travels.

Here's a quick glance at some of the new feature the Maps app on iOS 13 has to offer.

Maps redesign

Apple improved Maps on iOS 13 so that it would be a step better than the iOS 12 version. It now features improved detailing for roads, parks, buildings, beaches and more. Also, Maps now displays real-time road hazards and traffic conditions, alerting people of what they should expect on the road.

Real-Time Schedules

Maps can now be used for more precise route planning because it now displays information like transit schedules, arrival times, outages, cancellations, network stops and system connections – all in real-time. Maps now also displays real-time information about flights, such as departure times, flight terminals, gate locations and more.

Siri Directions

Siri now gives more natural-sounding instructions towards a user's designated destination. The Apple voice assistant will now say “turn right at the next traffic light” instead of “turn right after 500 feet.”

ETA Sharing

Maps now allows users to share their estimated time of arrival (ETA) with others. Maps updates the ETA based on the person's actual distance and traffic conditions on the road going to the destination.

ook Around

Maps has a new feature called “Look Around.” This new feature, which is similar to Google Street View, gives users a street-level view of various locations. This can be used by tapping on the Binoculars icon when it appears on certain areas in the main Apple Maps view.

Tapping on the icon allows users to get a street-level view of the location in a card. The map remains visible in the area outside the card. Tapping on the card results in a full-screen view of the location.

Users can “move around” by tapping on the display. Points of interest are all indicated on the display using icons and names.

Collections

This feature allows users to search for different places then lump these together in what is called Collection lists. A list can contain several cafés, restaurants, or other places of interest. These lists can be shared with others.

Favorites

Maps now has a new Favorites feature that lets users search for certain locations then adds these locations to a list. These locations are places that users frequently visit. Tapping on a saved location brings up directions to that place. Home and Work are already saved as Favorite locations.
