The jailbreak Dev Teams have finally released the iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak for non-A5 devices to the public as a new year gift. However, iOS fans have come across some issues after installing the new jailbreak.

The iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak, released by iPhone Dev Team (Corona 5.0.1) and Chronic Dev Team (RedSn0w 9.10b) based on the French hacker pod2g's work, has been made available on iPhone3GS, iPhone4, iPhone4-CDMA, iPad, iPod Touch 3G and iPod touch 4G. Many people have downloaded and installed the untethered jailbreak, but some of them have encountered various kinds of problems.

After some problems popped up, iPhone Dev Team has twice revised the Redsn0w 0.9.10b - first, 0.9.10b2, and then 0.9.10b3. The 0.9.10b2 includes the launchctl-related fix. The 0.9.10b3 fixes a problem where re-running redsn0w over an existing jailbreak would cause MobileSubstrate-based apps to stop running until MS was installed again.

iOS fans can re-run the redsn0w jailbreak step, but they need to remember to de-select the Install Cydia option if it's already installed. In addition, the Team also suggested If auto-detection fails and redsn0w tells you no identifying data was found, you can always pre-select the appropriate 5.0.1 IPSW using 'Extras->Select IPSW'.

These issues may slow down hacker MuscleNerd's work of releasing A5 untethered jailbreak. Pod2g has already said he will just focus on A5.

Following are some useful tips for those who want to enjoy iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak:

If your iPhone 4 non-stop Reboot (Black Screen and White Apple) after JB redsnOw 0.9.10b3, you can restore it, choose set up as new, and do not restore to backup. Then go to iClarified.com and get a tutorial and follow it.

If you have issues with Redsn0w, you need reboot both the iDevice and computer. Then turn off all anti-virus, firewalls and IP Blockers. If it is on a PC, you need to run Redsn0w from desktop as administrator in XP compatibility mode. If all of these do not work, you need to try a different computer.

If you have signal dropout problem, this may help you. ATT iPhone 3GS New Boot ROM running untethered 5.0.1 with 6.15 baseband unlocked for use on T-Mobile ! One iOS user said. In case this helps anyone, since I had the same signal dropout problems I've been reading about.

What he did is:

- Use sn0wbreeze-v2.8b11 to make a custom IPSW with iOS 5.0.1 and iPad baseband

- Flash it, restore the phone from backup

- Unlock with ultrasn0w 1.2.5

- Install Corona 5.0.1 Untether from Cydia

But this way does not solve the GPS problem.

If you want to upgrade to 5.0.1, your host file must point to Apple or the upgrade will fail. Also use Tiny Umbrella, Advanced Tab, uncheck Set host file to Cydia to correct this. Then type gs.apple.com in your browser to test (It should go to Apple, not Cydia). You should know your iDevice must be in pwned DFU mode to use custom or No BB IPSW with iTunes or it will fail.

If you installed a Cydia app or hack and it does not work correctly, you likely got a partial package due to the load on the repos. Once the load diminishes, you can re-install it. This happens every time when a new jailbreak tools are released.

If you got an issue with the beta2 Redsn0w, you can try to reinstall 'mobile substrate' and reboot the device. Some people said the newest PwnageTool is a lack of hacktivation. If so, you can try Redsn0w, it can hacktivate.

Are you facing issues with Redsn0w 0.9.10b3, getting error Couldn' t download required IPSW? Some said they did Select IPSW using Extra and selected IPSW for his iPhone 3GS and it was identified. But during the last stage of JB, RedSn0w crashes . There is still no good solution. But one users said he used a 1.0 USB hub to slow the transfer, and it doesn't crash. Tech&Trends has not tested if it works yet. But you can try it at your own risk.

There still many other problems without solutions, Tech&Trends will continue to monitor the problems and publish the solutions as soon as they are released. Meanwhile, if you have found some solutions for any issue, let us know in the comments.
