Apple announced iOS 6, the latest version of its mobile operating system, just over a month ago and since then the company has released three betas, allowing developers to have a firsthand look at how the software will behave.

On Monday, the Cupertino company pushed out the third beta of the OS, iOS 6 beta 3 build 10A5355d, to developers as an over-the-air (OTA) update with an array of bug fixes and stability issues found in the second beta.

If you are a developer and running iOS 6 beta 2, you can download the thrid beta of iOS 6 via the OTA update by heading over to Settings > General > Software Update. It's a 323MB/347MB delta download for the iPhone 4S and a 424MB delta download for the third-generation iPad.

iDownloadBlog pointed out that a new item has been added to Settings, dedicated to preferences for Apple's own Maps application. After getting into Maps settings, users can choose between miles or kilometers for units labels. They can also set their desired language, label sizes and turn-by-turn navigation volume, independently of the system volume.

In addition, Safari now has glyphs for bookmarks, reading list and history instead of worded labels. Moreover, Safari on iPad features a syncing progress indicator below the reading list icon in the toolbar. For more information on the changes found in the iOS 6 beta 3, click here.

If you've updated your device to the iOS 6 beta 3 firmware, you can jailbreak it tethered using the latest version of the popular RedSn0w jailbreak tool. The iPhone Dev Team has released RedSn0w 0.9.13dev3, covering the third beta.

The 'dev3' version covers today's 6.0beta3 release (and also adds explicit support for 6.0beta2). Please point redsn0w at the 6.0b3 IPSW in order to jailbreak beta3 and boot tethered, read a post on the iPhone Dev Team's blog.

Users must use Select IPSW to point RedSn0w at the beta3 IPSW before every tethered 'Just boot', said the blog post.

It must be noted that this jailbreak will not install Cydia since a number of packages have not been updated to support the new firmware.
