A new leak from someone claiming to work for one of Apple’s key manufacturers has revealed two interesting details about this year’s upcoming iPhones.

According to MacRumors, an anonymous person claiming to work for Foxconn shared sketchy details about the iPhone 11 lineup on a Chinese Q&A website named Zhihu. The details have also been uploaded to leak aggregate site Slashleaks but are currently “locked” and cannot be viewed onsite.

Some of the details leaked seemed to confirm previous rumors related to how the upcoming devices will look like. Some of them, however, sound new and would be topics of interest to some Apple fans.

A new color

First, the self-titled Foxconn factory worker claimed that at least one of the three upcoming iPhones will be available in a “dark green” color. This claim seems to line up with an earlier report from Japanese site Mac Otakara saying the iPhone XR successor will come in a “green” color.

The site also claimed that the iPhone XR successor will come in a lavender or lilac color. These new colors will take the place of the iPhone XR’s blue and coral colors.

Matte glass back

Second, the leaker claimed that the upcoming iPhones will have a matte glass back. This is in line with what noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted months ago, saying the 2019 iPhones will have “frosted glass casing.”

Goodbye, branding

Third, the so-called Foxconn worker said this year’s iPhones will ditch one of the most familiar design features all iPhone models have had from the beginning: the iPhone branding. The leaker claimed that the successors to last year’s iPhone XR, XS and XS Max won’t have “iPhone” written on their backs.

MacRumors noted that while this kind of development is unheard of, it’s not entirely impossible. The Cupertino tech giant could’ve simply thought that the iPhone is distinguishable enough from other devices that it really doesn’t need the branding anymore. Also, Apple will achieve a more minimalistic look by removing the branding from the devices.

Other details

The leaker also claimed that all three iPhones will come in 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage configurations; that 3D Touch will be removed; and that the iPhone XS Max successor will have a 3,969 mAh battery.

As interesting as the details may seem, it’s worth noting that they aren’t verified yet. Slashleaks even “locked” the leaker’s report because he or she is “Random/Unverified.” It’s best to take the news with a grain of salt while waiting for Apple’s big reveal next month.
