  • His appearance came just hours after ex Taylor Swift released a short film for the 10-minute version of "All Too Well"

Jake Gyllenhaal stepped out in Los Angeles over the weekend as Taylor Swift's "All Too Well" had the internet buzzing about their past romance.

On Saturday, the "Velvet Buzzsaw" star, 40, attended the Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards in support of his sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal, 43, who won the breakthrough director award for her directorial debut, "The Lost Daughter," Page Six reported.

Gyllenhaal also presented an award to Mandell Winter and David Esparza, the sound editors of his Netflix film "The Guilty," at the ceremony.

His appearance at the event came just hours after Swift, 31, released her "All Too Well" short film, in which she made her directorial debut. The 14-minute project, starring Dylan O’Brien and Sadie Sink, accumulated over 23 million views on YouTube in less than 48 hours.

Though Swift has never confirmed it herself, fans speculated that her track and the short film are about Gyllenhaal and their short-lived 2010 romance.

Gyllenhaal became a trending topic on social media over the weekend after the release of the previously unheard version of "All Too Well."

Several lyrics in the 10-minute version of the song suggested that he broke up with her due to their age gap. The 11-year gap between O’Brien, 30, and Sink, 19, is also close to the former couple’s 9-year age difference. When they started dating, Swift was 20 years old and Gyllenhaal was 29.

"You said if we had been closer in age maybe it would have been fine / And that made me want to die," Swift sings in the new version.

In another part of the song, she sings, "And I was never good at telling jokes, but the punch line goes / I'll get older, but your lovers stay my age."

Gyllenhaal and Swift, who dated from October to December 2010, split just before her 21st birthday, which she also mentions in "All Too Well."

"You, who charmed my dad with self-effacing jokes / Sipping coffee like you were on a late-night show / But then he watched me watch the front door all night, willing you to come / And he said, 'It's supposed to be fun turning 21,'" she sings.

The song also mentioned a road trip to upstate New York and losing a scarf. The former couple was spotted strolling through New York City in November 2010 while visiting his sister Maggie for Thanksgiving. Last year, the "Crazy Heart" actress said it was "great" having Swift over for dinner.

In the song, Swift sings about leaving her scarf "at your sister's house" and her former lover keeping it because "it reminds you of innocence and it smells like me."

Through the years, Gyllenhaal has been photographed wearing a scarf similar to that of Swift.

Gyllenhaal is currently dating 25-year-old model Jeanne Cadieu, while Swift has since moved on with British actor Joe Alwyn, 30.
