Jeff Bezos donated half a million at a fundraising event over the weekend, but many were still not impressed.

The Amazon and Blue Origin founder attended the star-studded Baby 2 Baby at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood on Saturday night. It was a fancy fundraising gala, but many were seemingly not happy with his presence at the gathering even after he donated $500,000 to the cause.

"Everyone was waiting for him to donate something, but he didn’t," an unnamed source told Page Six. "And then a little later, [Bezos] donated $500,000. There was an audible groan from the room."

While the other guests' reaction may appear ungracious, many felt that the amount wouldn't cost him much considering that he is the second richest man in the world. He is estimated to make $142,667 per minute.

Several netizens also reacted to the incident on Twitter. Just like the guests at the event, they weren't impressed with Bezos's donation.

"Greedy man. Doesn't he realize that being a better person will open the doors his money alone cannot?" one tweeted.

"If these rich bastards were taxed they would donate more if only for the tax deduction," another wrote, slamming the billionaire.

"Gratitude is one of the most important human traits. Seems like it may have been missing on both sides of this donation," a third user added.

Meanwhile, some netizens chose to appreciate Bezos's donation. For them, he was already kind enough to support the gala. Plus, it was a donation, and he didn't need to put all of his money into one cause.

"Hey now! It's not cheap sending those p3n!s shaped rockets up into orbit with celebrities and such! Can't just be tossing money out for every charity that comes along these days," one wrote, defending Bezos.

"Good for him. I wish I could," another said, acknowledging his generosity

"I’d be willing to bet that the lump sum Jeff Bezos gives away before passing away will drastically change the world for the better if used transparently and morally. So I just don’t see why giving 500k at a random charity gala deserves scrutiny," a third added.

Bezos was accompanied by his girlfriend, Lauren Sanchez, to the event. Other celebrity guests who showed up at the gala were Kate Hudson, Jessica Alba, Kerry Washington, Jennifer Garner, Ciara, Nicole Richie and Mindy Kaling.
