Jennifer Garner considered her marriage to Ben Affleck “real” and not just for the cameras.

Garner and Affleck announced their separation in 2015. However, it was only after three years when their divorce was finalized. They took their time and focused on co-parenting their three children, Violet, 14, Seraphina, 10, and Samuel, 7.

In an interview with Vanity Fair in 2016, Garner spoke about her marriage to the “Batman v Superman” actor. The “Peppermint” star said that what they had was “real.”

“It was a real marriage,” Garner said. “It wasn’t for the cameras. And it was a huge priority for me to stay in it. And that did not work.”

Following their split, there were claims that Affleck had an affair with their kids’ nanny Christine Ouzounian. However, a source told E! News that Ouzounian tipped off the paparazzi to have them photograph her with Affleck.

The “Daredevil” actor’s rep denied the claims that he had a relationship with his kids’ nanny. The rep insisted that the alleged affair was categorically “not true.” It was just tabloid journalism hiding behind blind sources and was a shameful ploy to stay relevant for the magazine.

Garner addressed the same issue in her Vanity Fair interview. The celebrity mom of three denied that their separation was due to Affleck’s alleged nannygate scandal.

“We had been separated for months before I ever heard about the nanny. She had nothing to do with our decision to divorce. She was not a part of the equation,” Garner explained.

The “Miracles from Heaven” star considered it bad judgment that they fired Ouzounian because it meant that their children’s nanny had to disappear from their lives. In fact, months later, she still had to talk to her kids about the meaning of “scandal.”

At present, Garner and Affleck remain amicable as they continue to co-parent their children. They still spend holidays as a family. They spent Thanksgiving and were even spotted buying a Christmas Tree together.

There were rumors that Garner dumped her boyfriend John Miller because the latter was jealous of her ex-husband. However, a source told Us Weekly that it was not true. Miller understands Garner’s commitment to helping her ex-husband and the father of her three children.
