  • The Netflix thriller was placed on a "weeks-long production suspension" due to a "massive" COVID-19 outbreak, local outlets say

Jennifer Lopez was seen leaving Spain over the weekend after production on her upcoming thriller "The Mother" was halted due to COVID-19.

Lopez, 52, was photographed boarding a private plane back to the U.S. Saturday night after the Gran Canaria set of her film was shut down due to the outbreak.

In photos obtained by Page Six, the "On The Floor" singer tried to keep a low profile by wearing a faux fur vest over a cream-colored cardigan, sweatpants and fuzzy slides with socks. She also donned a pair of sunglasses and a face mask.

Lopez arrived at the international set just last week to continue shooting "The Mother." The film is helmed by Niki Caro, who directed "Mulan," and also stars "The Handmaid's Tale" and "American Horror Story" actor Joseph Fiennes, "Power's" Omari Hardwick and "Sound of Metal" star Paul Raci.

A "massive" coronavirus outbreak forced production on the Netflix thriller to shut down temporarily, and it has been placed on a "weeks-long production suspension," local newspaper La Provincia reported.

Lopez was set to film multiple scenes throughout the week but was only spotted Wednesday, according to the Spanish outlet. During the sighting, she was filming an outdoor scene with Fiennes. The latter looked dapper in a blue button-down and khaki trousers.

Reps for Lopez and Netflix did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Lopez and the other cast members started filming "The Mother" in October last year. The film was slated to conclude production later this month.

This came more than a week after Lopez was photographed shopping in Los Angeles with her boyfriend Ben Affleck and her daughter Emme on New Year's Eve. The trio wore coordinated black outfits and face masks, and the "Justice League" star was seen holding shopping bags.

The trio's sighting came shortly after Lopez relived her greatest 2021 moments on Instagram. Four of the photos she shared featured Affleck, including a snap from one of their red carpet appearances. One picture featured Lopez leaning on the actor with a big smile, while another shot showed him kissing her on the cheek.

Lopez and Affleck got back together in April 2021 after she called off her engagement to Alex Rodriguez. Since then, they have been inseparable and have been seen going on outings with their blended family.
