A poll released Wednesday by Monmouth University showed presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden leading incumbent Donald Trump by 13 points in the vital swing state of Pennsylvania. The survey shows Biden with 53% support, compared to Trump’s 40%.

Pennsylvania is considered a crucial prize in the general election, with 20 electoral votes. In 2016, Trump edged Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, 48.18% to 47.46%. Trump carried Luzerne County, a Rust Belt area located in the northeastern part of the state that had traditionally supported Democrats.

The survey shows that Trump has strong support from white voters without a college degree, while Biden leads with college-educated white Pennsylvanians. Biden has 76% total support from Black, Asian, Latino and other racial groups in the state.

Biden’s personal ties to the state may help him garner support there. He was born in the industrial city of Scranton, located in northeastern Pennsylvania, and lived the first 10 years of his life there. His appeal to working-class voters, along with support from Democratic strongholds such as Philadelphia, could help him land a solid win in the state.

Recent polls show Biden with a strong lead in the general election. A CNBC/Change Research survey shows Biden with 51% of the vote, with Trump at 41%. An Economist/YouGov survey has Biden at 49% support to Trump’s 40%.
