  • John Krasinski revealed that he had no plans of making a sequel to "A Quiet Place"
  • Krasinski feels the first movie was a "love letter" to his kids
  • The sequel will hit theaters on March 20

After the success of the first film, the dynamic duo of John Krasinski and Emily Blunt is all set to make a comeback to the big screen with a sequel to the 2018 blockbuster hit “A Quiet Place,” aptly named “A Quiet Place: Part II.”

But did they always want to make a sequel? Or was it all because of the universal acclaim that the first film received? Krasinski, who helmed and wrote the first movie, has finally answered these burning questions.

While making an appearance in the recent episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” the 40-year-old actor revealed that they had no plans of making another movie because the first one was really close to his heart and it was a “love letter” to his kids.

“It was one of those where I was not really going to do a second one because the first one was such a personal experience. It was my love letter to my kids, which looks insane, now that you are watching that. It was really important for me to continue the metaphor,” Krasinski said.

On the other hand, Blunt always believed that they had to do a sequel. Speaking in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the “Sicario” star noted that they would be considered “idiots” if they did not make a sequel to the science-fiction horror.

“It became very apparent that we'd be idiots not to do it. Ultimately, you will never catch the [same] lightning in the film, but there is a bigger world,” Blunt said.

“A Quiet Place” turned out to be a massive hit for the real-life couple. The movie made on the production budget of $21 million went on to accumulate more than $340 million at the global box office. The film was chosen as one of the top 10 movies of 2018 by the National Board of Review (NBR) and the American Film Institute (AFI).

Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe will be coming back to reprise their roles of Regan and Marcus in the sequel while Cillian Murphy will be portraying the role of Emmett in the upcoming movie.

Written and directed by Krasinski, “A Quiet Place: Part II” is scheduled to hit theaters on March 20.
