  • Johnny Depp said Amber Heard left poop on their bed and blamed it on their dogs
  • The actor argued that their pets were too small to jump on to their high bed
  • But Heard allegedly admitted to being responsible for the poop on the bed

Johnny Depp made the decision to end his marriage with ex-wife Amber Heard after one awful "prank" the actress allegedly pulled on him that she blamed on their dogs.

During the first day of the trial of Depp’s libel case against tabloid The Sun and its publisher, Heard's alleged "poop prank," which occurred when the actress celebrated her 30th birthday in Los Angeles penthouse in 2016, was brought up in court documents, U.K.'s Mirror reported. According to the actor's lawyers, this was the incident that forced Depp to finally divorce her.

"Depp who in the end was forced to finally call time on this relationship, largely after behavior by her and her friends following her birthday party in their flat in April 2016," the legal team told the court in opening arguments on Tuesday. "(Including he says, one of them defecating on his bed, something which Ms Heard blames on their tiny dog)."

In his witness statement, Depp addressed the incident, saying his ex-wife claimed it was a "harmless prank."

"I understand that the following morning [after the party] Ms Heard (or possibly one of her friends) defecated in our shared bed," Depp’s statement read.

Depp revealed that Heard, who initially blamed their dogs for the poop her then-husband found on their bed, admitted that she had been responsible for it while chatting with an acquaintance.

"On 12 May 2016, Ms Heard confessed to our estate manager, Kevin Murphy, that leaving the [feces] in the bed had been 'just a harmless prank’ thereby effectively acknowledging that she had been responsible, whereas she had previously sought to blame our dogs,” Depp added.

However, Depp argued that their pets, Yorkshire Teacup terriers, were too small to even reach the bed or to leave a large poop.

"I resolved to divorce Ms Heard on that day," Depp said.

Depp filed a libel suit against News Group Newspapers over a 2018 article of The Sun which referred to the actor as a "wife-beater."

The tabloid’s lawyer, Sasha Wass, said in court that his "'wife-beating' behavior included throwing objects at [Heard], slapping her across the face, kicking her, gripping her around the throat and threatening to kill her."

However, Depp argued that although he had "taken every drug known to man" by 14, he has never hit a woman and claimed that it was actually Heard who beat him. Moreover, the "Edward Scissorhands" star also said that Heard has a "calculating, diagnosed borderline personality."

According to Mirror, Depp highlighted that the first time he and Heard met, she told him “how much she admired [his] films.” However, when they got together, she later admitted that she had not seen any of his movies.

"She is sociopathic; she is a narcissist, and she is completely emotionally dishonest. I am now convinced that she came into my life to take from me anything worth taking and then destroy what remained of it," Depp said of his ex.

Lawyers also presented a photo of Depp's severed fingertip, which the actor insisted was caused by Heard cutting him with broken glass.
