In Manchester United's 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, midfielder Stuart Holden suffered a serious injury to his knee after a dangerous tackle from United defender Johnny Evans.

Evans saw red for the tackle, but scans revealed that Holden, who was rushed to the hospital, will be out injured for six months with a nasty gash on his knee. He needed 26 stitches to close the wound, but despite avoiding a break as X-rays confirmed, Bolton said their midfielder would be out for six months

Holden wrote on his Twitter account: I can promise you all I will come back stronger and better than before. Have had bad luck in the past and will continue to beat it.

However, he holds no grudges against Evans, writing Just had sincere phone call from Jonny Evans wishing me best in recovery, def wasn't intentional just unfortunate part of game
