Although viewers of “Jon & Kate Plus 8” have let go of the idea of a reunion between Jon and Kate Gosselin, they may be disappointed to learn that the patriarch of the famous family has yet to mend his relationship with the children that live with his ex-wife.

Fans of the family may recall that Jon was awarded temporary sole physical and sole legal custody of his son Collin in December 2018, after Kate failed to appear at the scheduled court hearing. Since then, the 43-year-old has had a strained relationship with several of his children.

On Sunday, Jon opened up to Entertainment Tonight about his relationship with his kids amid the coronavirus pandemic. Since six of his children are living with Kate, he admitted he hasn’t been in contact with them.

“My other kids, we’re not really communicating right now, but Hannah and Collin live with me,” he told the outlet.

Although he has a strained relationship with some of his kids, Jon won’t interfere with sibling bonding. “I’m not stopping them from coming together,” he insisted.

In February 2018, Jon revealed that after his daughter, Hannah, and son, Collin, began living with him, his other children became distant. “She wanted her brother to come home,” Jon told Us Weekly at the time.

“[Leah, Alexis, Joel and Aaden] aren’t talking to me, but they’re talking to Hannah. I don’t get involved now with what the kids … it’s what the kids want to do. If they don’t want to talk to me, that’s fine, as long as they keep up with their sibling connections. Eventually, if they come around, and they want to talk to me, that’s cool.”

When Kate and Jon split in 2009, the parents shared physical custody of their eight children, but the 45-year-old was awarded full legal custody. However, the arrangement has changed over the years.

After Hannah and Collin claimed to have issues with their mother, the siblings eventually began staying with their father full time.
