Former “Jon and Kate Plus 8” stars Jon and Kate Gosselin’s fight over their son Collin has revealed how the 14-year-old feels about his mother. Court documents show that Jon claimed his ex-wife is a “trigger” for their son, who Kate previously claimed had special needs.

“It would not be in the best interests of the minor child…to have independent time with mother or to have mother share legal custody of the minor child because mother has not cooperated with the child’s treatment and is a ‘trigger’ for the minor child,” Jon’s legal team wrote in a court record in October, Radar Online reported Wednesday.

The documents also show that Jon requested sole legal and physical custody of Collin. The report was sent before Jon was awarded temporary custody of Collin in December after Kate was a no-show in court. It was later reported that Kate requested the hearing be postponed but that her request was denied.

The release of the documents comes days after Jon revealed to fans on his Instagram page that Kate has “zero” contact with the teen. Kate fired back at the claims, saying recently that all of her kids are “close.”

Kate first opened up about Collin after TLC viewers noticed his absence on the family’s long-running docuseries. The mother of eight told People Magazine in August 2016 that Collin, then 12, needed to be away from the family in order to receive treatment.

“Collin has special needs. [There’s] a fairly fluid diagnosis of what those needs are, but he needs to learn certain strategies to help him deal with things,” Kate told the magazine.

“This has been a struggle we’ve had for a very long time, and it’s one I’ve dealt with on my own. I’ve felt very alone in this. By the same token, it’s not something that has only impacted me or him – our entire family has been impacted.”

Collin currently lives with Jon in Pennsylvania with his sister Hannah, also 14, who has also had her fair share of issues with Kate. Jon and Kate’s other children, 18-year-old twins Maddy and Cara, and 14-year-old sextuplets Leah, Aaden, Alexis, and Joel, reside with Kate.
