KEY POINTS

  • Liverpool have 41 points from 18 games in the league
  • They take on Leicester City at King Power Stadium on Monday
  • Tyler Morton has played 7 times for Liverpool's first team this season

Liverpool FC captain Jordan Henderson hailed young midfielder Tyler Mortan, saying the teenage player has been "brilliant" over the last few months.

The Reds have been struck with a few injuries as well as Covid-19 in the last few weeks, giving opportunities to players such as Morton. The 19-year-old central midfielder has made seven appearances for Liverpool’s first team this season.

"Tyler has been brilliant over the last few months, I really think he has improved. He has obviously learned and listened to a lot of the lads around him in training and being around the lads, in the dressing room and in training, it will certainly help him. And I think that has helped him going into games, I think he has looked comfortable and he hasn’t looked fazed at all and he has done really well," Henderson told Liverpool’s official website.

Liverpool take on Leicester City at King Power Stadium in the Premier League on Monday.

Second-placed Liverpool have 41 points from 18 games in the 2021-22 Premier League and are six points behind table-toppers Manchester City. But the Anfield side has a game in hand as their Boxing Day fixture against Leeds United was postponed due to covid outbreak in the Peacocks’ camp.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has said that the Reds still "have a lot of things to improve" but he is happy with their season so far.

"So far really good. I believe we are doing a great job here, all the team good performances. This period of the season is a really intense period and it’s really a mentality game. It’s really tough, physically speaking, but I believe that we are doing really well with these situations, having the results that we need. But we still have a lot of things to improve, to keep improving through the season but I’m happy about what we did so far," Alisson told Liverpoolfc.com.

After winning six league games in a row, Jurgen Klopp’s side was held at a controversial 2-2 draw at Tottenham, aiding City to extend their lead in the title race.

"Everybody knows how important this moment is for the rest of the season. Can you keep consistency? Can you keep winning these short games that we have, in terms of intervals between each other? So it’s really important for us if you look at the table, but we cannot change our focus, we just need to be focused on the next challenge, playing game by game. This is what we’ll do and think on the next challenge," the Brazilian goalkeeper further added in the same interview.
