Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who worked with Bruce Willis in the 2012 movie, "Looper," shared how he received a sweet compliment from the veteran actor while filming.

"I had a moment of validation, there was a scene later in the movie where we were yelling at each other," Joseph Gordon-Levitt told Vanity Fair in an interview shared Thursday. "I don’t know if Bruce did this on purpose or he did it unintentionally, but it was kind of the highest compliment he could pay me."

The 41-year-old explained how the "compliment" wasn't direct but rather an observation Willis made to himself.

"It was right after they said cut, he was turning away and walking back to his mark, he didn’t even say it to me, he kind of said it to himself, ‘Sounds like me.’ I just turned to myself and was like, ‘F—ng yes!’" the 41-year-old actor recalled.

"I think, knowing him, that was really his ultra generous way of paying me a compliment, but it was very kind to do it in that way," he added.

Written and directed by Rian Johnson, "Looper" is a sci-fi thriller about time travel in which Gordon-Levitt plays a younger version of the character portrayed by Willis. It won the Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Sci-Fi/Horror Movie category.

Willis, 67, recently made headlines when his daughter Rumer announced the actor's aphasia diagnosis via Instagram, last week.

Willis' wife Emma Heming Willis also shared the same announcement on her Instagram account, noting that he is "stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him."

According to Mayo Clinic, this condition affects a person's speech, writing skills and comprehension.

"He was having cognitive problems, they all knew Bruce was having problems," an anonymous insider said, following the announcement. "Everybody knew, the cast and crew. His family has stepped in, they moved in to take care of him."

On the work front, Willis will be next seen in movies like "Vendetta" and "Fortress: Sniper's Eye." Gordon-Levitt, on the other hand, will feature in movies like "Pinocchio," "White Night," "Wingmen" and "K Troop."
