Liverpool FC skipper Jordan Henderson picked up a hamstring injury during his side's win over Newcastle United on Wednesday.

In a post-match interview, head coach Jurgen Klopp confirmed that substituting Henderson was not a tactical change but due to an injury, which was "not helpful" at the moment with several Reds players already sidelined due to injuries.

In the 71st minute, Klopp made a triple change, which included bringing in James Milner for injured Henderson.

"Obviously Hendo is injured, he got a hamstring [injury], which is absolutely not helpful. I don't think so. [It was] that serious that he couldn't carry on, so it was no tactical change," Klopp told reporters, according to Liverpool's website.

With Thursday being the deadline day of the summer transfer window, it is still unclear if Liverpool will make one final business. It is believed that the Reds are looking to sign a midfielder keeping in mind their current injury concerns.

It has been reported that Liverpool have made a bid of around $23 million for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz in the final hours of the transfer window. The Villa Park side is open to selling Luiz, who has just a year left on his contract, but the club will also try to get Liverpool to improve their offer.

When Klopp was asked if Liverpool were likely to conduct any business ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline, the German boss replied, "I don't think so, but as long as there is time we should not close the door completely."

After thrashing Bournemouth 9-0 last week, Liverpool were not at their best Wednesday when they hosted Newcastle in the Premier League. The Magpies' debutant Alexander Isak put them 1-0 up just a few minutes before the break.

Liverpool found an equalizer in the 61st minute when Roberto Firmino sent a crisp finish beyond Newcastle keeper Nick Pope from Mohammed Salah's pass.

With only a few seconds left for the final whistle, Reds substitute Fabio Carvalho smashed one at the far post after the visitors failed to clear a James Milner corner to hand Klopp's team a dramatic 2-1 victory.

"It's massive. We will remember it for years and years. I'm not 100% sure they all believed until the end but from now on we have to as we showed again it is possible," said Klopp, BBC Sport reported.
