Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri and players such as Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly have agreed to not be paid for the next four months to help the club save an estimated $99 million amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

Italy is the worst-affected nation by the pandemic virus and so far, the country has announced that no sport will be played until April 3.

Juventus’ first-team will not be paid their full salaries in March, April, May and June. The Old Lady currently are on the top of the Serie A table, one point ahead of second-placed Lazio.

“The understanding provides for the reduction of the compensation for an amount equal to the monthly payments of March, April, May and June 2020. In the coming weeks, personal agreements with the players and the coach will be finalized, as required by the current regulations. The economic and financial effects of the understanding reached are positive for about $99m for the 2019-20 financial year,” the Italian club said in an official statement.

The club further thanked the players and the coach for their “commitment at a difficult time for everyone.”

“Should the current season's matches be rescheduled, the Club will negotiate in good faith with the players and the coach conditional increases of compensations according to the actual resumption and finalization of official competitions. Juventus would like to thank the players and the coach for their commitment at a difficult time for everyone,” the club added further.
