K-pop singer Mina has rejected a police investigation into the alleged bullying she experienced during her time with her former girl band AOA.

An Aug.13 report from the South Korean daily newspaper Joongang Ilbo said that the Gangnam Police have initiated an investigation into the alleged bullying incidents Mina underwent during her time with the group.

The investigation began on Aug.10 based on a complaint registered by a longtime fan of the girl group, Allkpop reports.

"A request for a full investigation into the AOA bullying incident has been made to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Department" on Aug. 9, the fan posted on an online community called DCInside - AOA gallery.

Revealing that the civil complaint has been filed, the Netizen stated, "The public has been shocked after the former AOA member Mina had uploaded a gruesome photo of self-harm on social media and attempted to take her own life. Fortunately, her life is not in danger but this is not the first time this has happened...Mina had continuously spoken about her distress as she mentioned the names of certain individuals. Fans cannot continue to watch such a situation any longer. We want to relieve the pain in Mina's heart. I request that a formal investigation be held in this case so that those at fault can be punished accordingly."

However, Mina and her label Woori Actors did not intend to make it a bigger issue and were hesitant to appear for the questioning regarding the claims in the complaint, as per another report by Allkpop. The investigation in-charge was able to contact the label but failed to get in touch with Mina.

The Woori Actors has released a statement confirming that the formal investigation has been rejected. "Mina and our agency have already refused to have the case investigated. The person directly involved doesn't want the investigation to proceed. She's currently in an unstable condition, but does not wish for the case to continue to grow bigger," the label said.

On Aug. 8, Mina was hospitalized after an apparent suicide attempt. She shared the photos of her self-harm with a note on her Instagram. The note called out for her former group members Shin Jimin and Han Sung Ho and the CEO of FNC Entertainment Kim Seolhyun.

Mina later apologized for her actions through an Instagram post before deleting the account to focus on her mental health treatment.
