Kaley Cuoco was immediately on board with the idea of voicing Harley Quinn in the upcoming animated series “The Harley Quinn.”

After starring on the “Big Bang Theory” for several seasons, the actor, who portrayed the role of Penny, is ready to take on the new challenge.

While speaking with Metro UK, the show’s executive producer Justin Halpern revealed how they decided to cast Cuoco for the lead role. He said that while he and his team were thinking of an actress to voice the character, the president of Warner Bros. reached out to him with one suggestion: Kaley Cuoco.

“We hadn't really thought about it because she's always just been Penny on “The Big Bang Theory” and so we were like, ‘We love her but let's just talk about it,’ and we talked to her about it and she just completely got it,” he said.

According to Halpern, Cuoco was very excited over the idea of voicing the character. In fact, after reading Harley Quinn’s first line, she immediately agreed to play the part.

“We hadn't really thought about it because she's always just been Penny on ‘The Big Bang Theory’ and so we were like, ‘We love her but let's just talk about it,’ and we talked to her about it and she just completely got it,’” he said.

Meanwhile, the former “Big Bang Theory” star revealed how she came up with Harley Quinn’s voice on the animated series. While speaking with TV Line, the actress said that she wanted the character to be as badass as possible.

“I think with any character, especially when on a new show, it takes some getting used to. I’ve perfected certain looks and facial expressions over the years, so this in a way was harder — also because I’m voicing someone as iconic as Harley. And also, my voice is very recognizable, so I didn’t want to force an accent or try to be someone I’m not. I’m ‘Kaley as Harley,’ and accepting that early on enabled me to me free and very authentic,” she explained.
