The Kansas City Chiefs (11-3) lost a heartbreaker to a division rival on Thursday night and got worse news afterward. Starting cornerback Kendall Fuller had to get surgery to repair a wrist injury, potentially leaving the Chiefs’ struggling pass defense without one of its better players.

However, it turns out the Chiefs might not miss Fuller for long. Head coach Andy Reid said Monday that Fuller’s recovery should be quick and he might be ready to play next Sunday in Seattle, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Fuller played through the injury against the Los Angeles Chargers (11-3) last week. He got a crucial interception in the first half, but was flagged for pass interference on the Chargers’ game-winning drive at the end of the game. He is Pro Football Focus’s 26th ranked corner in the league this season.

The timing of the surgery could aid Fuller’s recovery. Since the loss to the Chargers was on a Thursday night, Fuller will have 10 days to recover instead of just a week. Even with Fuller playing relatively well this season, the Chiefs give up the most passing yards per game in the NFL.
