KEY POINTS

  • Kante bent on staying at Stamford Bridge
  • Inter Milan has not shut the door on Kante acquisition
  • InterMilan also has its sights on other Chelsea players

N'Golo Kante has no plans of leaving Stamford Bridge although a big-money offer from some club/s could change all that. Though he has not seen much action last season, Inter Milan has expressed interest in the 29-year-old player but it may take much to convince the Blues to agree to a more reasonable fee.

So far, Kante seems pretty much settled in West London. Frank Lampard seems poised to keep the French midfielder who missed almost half of the Blues' matches last season. Despite this, Lampard has not given up on Kante. He gave the French footballer the captaincy in the club's most recent friendly and competitive matches with Cesar Azpilicueta out on account of an injury, Goal reported.

“He is an incredible player, I keep saying it and I mean it, he is huge for this club,” Lampard said las June. “He has been huge and he will be for a long time and I am happy with him."

And while it appears there is nothing to worry about, there is always that lingering possibility that the Blues may have a change of heart. A large offer from the Serie A club could tempt Chelsea into agreeing to a deal. This could make sense considering the Blues have a bumper-crop of midfielders at the moment.

Also, Antonio Conte seems bent on trying to exhaust all means to pluck the French midfielder. Conte has his chance to call the shots for the Blues from 2016 to 2018 although financials may be in the way. Inter cannot pay large fees and need to unload some players to take in new ones before the next season starts.

Aside from Kante, another player on Inter's radar is Emerson Palmieri. To get him, I Nerazzurri needs to shell out roughly $36 million. They are trying to negotiate that asking fee. However, they may have to wait until Chelsea seals the deal with Ben Chilwell.

In a previous post, it was mentioned that a reunion between Emerson and Conte made sense. The 26-year-old is one of several players speculated to be leaving with Lampard owning a pretty cramped midfield. Nothing has progressed although Emerson's agent confirmed interest by Inter Milan on his client.
