Kanye West is going through a spiritual transformation and he isn’t scared to show it off. Guess what though? Because he is who he is —a famous artist married to a Kardashian— people reacting to this personal journey, and many of them are skeptical about West’s recent acts.

Is this a new trend? Is West doing this to gain more crowd and boost up his popularity?

Opinions differ, but come to think of it, what more fame could he still possibly need? He is, for the love of humanity, Kanye West. Popularity follows him wherever he goes. West’s public declaration of his acceptance of God’s love, mercy and Jesus Christ as his savior, and thereafter, his pop-up Sunday Services caused others to not take this endeavor seriously.

For one, Michael Che of SNL mentioned that West’s turning into an old white lately. Che said he initially thought that West’s losing his mind but realized that he [West] was just fine, People reported. He even called West as the “coolest black dude” on earth. After comparing the old and new West in terms of the song lyrics, outfit and type of music he listens to, he jokingly asked how long it would take for him [West] to change his name to Kathy.

But the rapper doesn’t seem to care what others think of him. West has a job to do and that is to let people know how his life changed with Jesus. CBN News cited West’s interview with Apple Music’s Beats 1, where he told Lowe that his job, now that he’s in service to Christ, is to spread the gospel and to let other people know what Jesus has done for him. He considers it as his mission and calling.

West openly talked about experiences —being called crazy, people not wanting to sit with him, health issues— all the good and the bad. And finally, the big decision that he had to uplift all these to God.

“Yes,” West confirmed. “I am at peace.”

There are also people who are taking him seriously. One of the many is the American author and pastor, Greg Laurie. Pastor Laurie took it Twitter and shared his thoughts about West’s new found faith, and those who are skeptical about West’s professed faith in God, Pastor Laurie has a few words for you.

“Pray for him,” he said. “I applaud any person that makes any movement towards God and I want to encourage them, not critique them.”

West released his album “Jesus Is King” and is continuously conducting these Sunday pop-up services.
