Kanye West took his four interrupted minutes of stage time during the 2016 MTV VMAs and ran with it, gifting viewers with quotables, reaction GIFs and a sexy new music video.

The “Famous” rapper took the time to touch on his feud with Taylor Swift, reiterating that he called her before releasing the controversial song. He also briefly discussed the video, joking that he put everyone — even wife Kim Kardashian West’s ex-boyfriend Ray J — in it.

West quickly moved on to more important topics, like his idols and America’s problem with gun violence. He shared part of a story with the crowd about hosting an event recently where he was approached by a young man concerned for his safety, telling the audience that it is easy to feel like giving up when all you know is violence.

West’s train of thought then drifted back to the real reason he was standing before an audience of fans and peers, including “my wife, Kim Kardashian West,” his “Idol” Diddy, and Chance the Rapper, whom he hailed as “the future.” The 21-time Grammy award winner unveiled his latest work of art — the music video for his song “Fade” off “The Life of Pablo.” The video appeared to pay homage to flashdance, showing Teyana Taylor getting physical in a boxing gym before hitting the showers for a steamy NSFW scene with Iman Shumpert. The full video is exclusive to Tidal users.

West was rumored to have been granted a pass to talk for four uninterrupted minutes on Aug. 25. TMZ reported that the network greenlit his time in the spotlight, asking no questions about what he planned to do. MTV responded to the report on Twitter with a Drake meme — leading many to believe that it was nothing more than a rumor.
