Kate Middleton had to learn how to handle the paparazzi when she first joined the royal family. And the palace advised her to learn the tricks of the trade from Princess Diana.

Even though the Duchess of Cambridge never had the chance to meet her mother-in-law in person, she saw how she handled herself gracefully while in the presence of the paparazzi through footage. Middleton admittedly learned a lot from watching the video, but she also told her friend that seeing the Princess of Wales very much alive in the clip was creepy.

In an article she wrote for Vanity Fair, royal author Katie Nicholl said that watching Princess Diana’s old footage was one of the reasons why Middleton always looked good when she was around the paparazzi.

“She always smiles and never says a word, which is exactly what she has been trained to do,” she wrote.

And royal author Ingrid Seward said that if Princess Diana was still alive, she would have recognized how good the Duchess of Cambridge is for her eldest son.

“I think she would have been very fond of Kate because Kate does everything right and looks gorgeous. And I think she would have recognized how good Kate is for William because William is emotional and difficult,” she said.

And Princess Diana would have also been a wonderful grandmother to Prince William and Middleton’s three children because she was a very hands-on mom to her boys. But Seward said that it is also highly likely that the Princess of Wales would size up Middleton’s mom, Carole Middleton, and she would be wary of her.

Just days ago, it was reported that Prince Charles became quite jealous of the Middletons because they also got to spend time with his grandchildren.

“The heir to the throne has apparently loaded to his friends about how little he sees his grandson. Charles believes Kate's mum, Carole Middleton has taken over,” a source told Daily Star.
