Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle may have tricked royal fans into thinking that they have patched things up during their recent sighting in Sandringham.

The duchesses were seen walking together outside St. Mary Magdalene Church for the Christmas service on Wednesday morning. Middleton and Markle looked at each other with smiles on their faces a couple of times, and they were also seen talking to each other.

However, body language expert Judi James told the Daily Mail that Middleton and Markle tried a little too hard to make it seem as though they were on good terms. She also said that both women exhibited signs of forced friendship and gave off body language cues oftentimes used by politicians.

“It reminds me of political body language. The king of thing politicians do when they’re walking with other heads of state and want to show more signs of rapport or unity. They’re walking in step, and there’s enough mirroring to suggest like mindedness too,” she said.

James specifically discussed how Middleton’s left hand was raised at the same time that Markle raised her left hand. This was an overproduced way of showing everyone that they were having a conversation. The body language expert said that their gestures looked performed.

Meanwhile, James also talked about Middleton’s facial expression during the recent outing. She said that the mom of three’s face gave her suppressed tension away. The expert said that Middleton is usually seen with a classic perfect smile when she’s in public, but not on Christmas morning.

“Here, she looks slightly amused by what’s happening. It looks like they’re almost sharing a joke that they’ve got to perform this friendship routine,” James said.

Middleton and Markle’s Christmas Day walk was the first time that two women were seen together in public since rumors of their feud broke out. Kensington Palace denied that the duchesses are at odds with each other, but royal fans and multiple royal sources are convinced that they are.

The Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex have not commented on their rumored rift.
