The BAFTAs brought Prince William and Kate Middleton face-to-face with the actresses who play Queen Elizabeth II. Both Claire Foy and Olivia Colman were at the awards ceremony.

Foy played the Queen in the first two seasons of “The Crown,” and it isn’t clear if she got to chat with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. She was, however, standing in front of an aisle seat as William and Kate walked into the Royal Albert Hall in London at the beginning of Sunday’s ceremony.

Olivia Colman, however, definitely got some face time with the royals. The actress, who will play the Queen in “The Crown” Seasons 3 and 4, won the BAFTA for best leading actress.

After the ceremony, Colman was pictured shaking hands with the Duchess. Kate Middleton, who wore Princess Diana’s earrings, appeared to be having a pleasant conversation with the actress, who was celebrated for playing Queen Anne in “The Favorite.” Could they have been talking about Netflix’s “The Crown”? Perhaps Colman will give royal fans some insight when she attends the Oscars later this month.

A video from the event showed her meeting Prince William as well. They did not talk about the fact that she is playing his grandmother. He did, however, mention that he loves “Broadchurch.”

Colman recently admitted on an episode of “David Tennant Does A Podcast With…” that she has a newfound respect for Prince William’s grandmother. “I have to say from doing this…not sure I was ever a monarchist, but the Queen is an incredibly impressive human being, and I’m slightly obsessed with her,” she revealed.

“The Crown” is filming Seasons 3 and 4 back-to-back, but premiere dates have not been announced.
