Kate Middleton and Prince William reportedly received a tight present from former Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg.

Following Prince George’s birth in 2013, Clegg congratulated the royal couple by giving them a gift. However, fashion writer and TV presenter Antonia O’Brien branded the present as “tight.”

In the Netflix documentary “The Royals,” O’Brien explained (via Express), “David Cameron got him books, my favorite is Nick Clegg who got them coffee because they’re going to be exhausted, and that is a practical gift. If anything, maybe the gift was a bit too tight.”

During Clegg’s radio interview, he explained why he decided to give Prince William and Middleton his gift.

“Miriam and I sent a letter with a gift just yesterday to Kensington Palace. The gift comes in two parts. We found a beautiful cot cover and cot sheet which is hand-embroidered in a convent in the village where Miriam comes from in Spain, where I was for a few days a few days ago. We have thrown in with the gift a large bag of our favorite coffee because as parents of young boys, we know you need coffee when you are coping with little boys,” he said (via Daily Mail).

In related news, Prince William and Middleton also made headlines this week after they hosted a Christmas party for military families at Kensington Palace. Middleton wore a festive tartan skirt by Emilia Wickstead with a Brora cropped cashmere black cardigan and matching boots for the occasion. Prince William, on the other hand, wore a blue quarter-zip pullover.

While at the party, the young guests enjoyed a fun mix of activities, including a photo booth, a Christmas stocking, snow globe decorating, cracker making and entertainment from party planners Sharky and George. Prince William also joined the kids in making crackers.

The event, which was organized in partnership with the Royal British Legion charity, took place at the palace’s Orangery. The venue is just a few hundred yards from where Prince William and Middleton live with their three children.

Middleton also gave a touching speech at the party, where she talked about the time that Prince William served as a helicopter pilot in the Royal Air Force, according to People.
